Are you a 20-something millennial that needs to get your life together? If so, you are in the right place. In this article, I will share with you 14 good habits to start in your 20s. They are all healthy habits that will benefit you in one way or another, so make sure you read all of them.
Your 20s are probably the most critical years of your life. You have so much going on in your personal life, and everyone expects you to have your entire life figured out, which creates this sense of pressure that keeps you from moving forward.
One of the best things you can do in this situation is to incorporate some healthy habits in your life that are going to set you up for success.
Here is a list of 14 habits to adopt in your 20s.
1. Make Your Health a Priority
Most young people take their health for granted. When you are in your twenties, you most likely don’t have any significant health problems, but that doesn’t mean you should neglect your health.
Protect your health while you still have it. It’s much easier to keep yourself healthy than to deal with disease later in life. Prevention is better than cure!
Here are some general guidelines to keep yourself healthy:
- Get your nutrition right: Stop eating junk food, learn about nutrition and start eating the food that your body truly needs.
- Move your body daily: Find an exercise form that you enjoy and get your body moving daily.
- Develop healthy sleeping habits: Getting a good night’s sleep is vital for your overall health. Make sure you get 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
- Get tested regularly: Start making medical checkups a priority – go to the eye doctor, dentist, gynaecologist, etc.
- Spend more time in nature: Being in nature and unplugging from our modern world can heal the soul.

2. Establish a Healthy Morning & Night Routine
Having a healthy morning routine that primes you for the day is essential to your peak performance. Start your day right, and the rest of the day will take care of itself. Here are some examples of activities to do in the morning:
- Drink a full glass of water
- Move your body
- Eat a healthy breakfast
Experiment with different morning routines and see what works best for you.
A night routine is equally as important as a morning routine. It prepares you for the next day, helps you relax, and have a good night’s sleep.
Turn off all devices one hour before bedtime and dedicate it to a healthy nighttime routine. Here are some examples of what you can do:

3. Make Daily Learning a Habit
Education does not stop when you graduate from school. That’s when it begins!
If you want to live an extraordinary life, then you must make daily learning a habit. Start reading non-fiction books on topics that interest you, listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and take courses.
The most successful people in the world are always hungry for knowledge. They are life-long learners, and they constantly feed their minds with the best content.
Nowadays, you can learn wherever you are. You can use your commute time to learn, you can learn while you exercise, and you can even educate yourself while doing chores.
4. Get Used to Listen to Content at X2 Speed
This may seem a little difficult or strange in the beginning, but it is a real game-changer. You will be able to consume content twice as fast with full comprehension.
Start by gradually increasing the speed of videos you watch and audio files you listen to until you reach x2 speed.
I have to warn you that people may think you are crazy when they hear the speed you listen to, but that’s okay. Let them think whatever they want. The important thing is that you are learning twice as fast as them.
5. Create a Life Vision
If you are in your 20s and still don’t have a life vision, you have a serious problem. I don’t mean to pick on you (most adults don’t even know what they want out of life), but having a life vision is extremely important if you want to be successful.
Think about it, how can you hit a target that you can’t see? And I am not just talking about money and career. I am talking about setting goals in all areas of life, such as health & fitness, intellectual life, emotional life, character, spirituality, and relationships.
Get clear on what you want in all areas of life and start working on it. Don’t waste your time with activities that don’t take you closer to your ultimate life vision.

Meditation is one of the most valuable habits that you can develop. Forget about the boring thought of just sitting there with your eyes closed, trying to stop yourself from thinking. That’s not how meditation works.
Meditation is rather about letting the thoughts flow, acknowledging them, and focusing on the present moment. It’s about keeping the mind active and directing your focus towards the things you want.
There is no one-fit meditation style for everyone, so I encourage you to go deeper into the topic of meditation and find a meditation style that best suits your needs.

Journaling is another powerful habit to develop in your 20s. It has several benefits, such as organizing your thinking, allowing you to reflect on different aspects of your life, letting ”negative emotions” out, and gaining more self-awareness.
Here are three ideas of what you could be journaling about:
- Express gratitude: Whether times are good or bad, always remind yourself how fortunate you are to have what you have.
- Your top 5 goals for the day: What are five things that, when accomplished, will make you feel like the day was well spent?
- Reflect on a question: Journaling is a way to get to know yourself better. Ask yourself some of these questions for personal growth, and write down the answers in your journal.
8. Start Conducting Weekly Reviews
Another powerful habit to adopt in your 20s is to conduct weekly reviews. By doing this, you will learn from your mistakes and make exponential progress towards achieving your goals.
Start the process by writing a story in your journal about the highlights from the seven days you just lived. Then record your lessons learned and optimizations for making the coming week even better.
Use these three questions for your weekly reviews:
- What went well last week? (Celebrate and continue these.)
- What didn’t go well? (Analyze why it didn’t go well.)
- Based on the answers above, what changes do I need to make to make next week better?
9. Start Managing Your Money
When you are in your 20s, you may not have a lot of money to manage, but it is vital to learn money management. The sooner you start, the better.
Go and read some books on personal finances, money management, and investing. Here are a few of my recommendations:

10. Start Building Passive Income Streams
Do you want to work on a 9 to 5 job for the rest of your life? If not, start building passive income streams now. Your 20s is the best time to do so because you can take more risks.
Even if you chose to work on a 9 to 5 job, it is always a good idea to have an extra income stream.
Passive income streams will take time and effort to build, but once everything is set up, they can pretty much run on autopilot.
Here are some passive income ideas for people in their 20s:
- Start a blog or a YouTube channel
- Sell digital products, like courses and e-books
- Invest in stocks
- Affiliate marketing
- Start an e-commerce shop
11. Chase Your Dream Career
Most people wait way too long to start chasing their dream career. Why would you wait when you know that the earlier you start, the better?! You need to get on it now!
If you want to work in the movie industry, start studying film and get a job as an assistant on a set. It doesn’t matter what you do there. The important thing is to meet people that you can learn from and even find mentors.
Another thing that may happen is realizing that this isn’t your dream career at all. And that’s okay! You have to try different things before you find what you genuinely like.
The main point is that you should stop sitting around, waiting for a golden opportunity to fall from the sky. Go out there and make it happen for yourself!
12. Build Your Network of Inspiring People
Surrounding yourself with the right people is very important for your future success. As Jim Rohn says, ”You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”. So if you want to achieve something, surround yourself with people who have already achieved it.
It’s also essential to find people on the same path as you and who have similar goals and ambitions. That way, you can learn from each other and grow together.
The most important thing, in my opinion, is to be proactive. Don’t wait for people to approach you. Take the first step and reach out to people that you want to be friends with.
13. Use Social Media Wisely
Social media can be a place where you get inspired and connect with like-minded people, but it can also be a time-wasting machine, depending on how you use it.
Most people don’t use social media to their advantage. They follow negative people, compare themselves to others, and scroll pointlessly through their feed for hours. Don’t be like these people!
Use social media to your advantage. Follow people who inspire you. Interact with posts that speak to you. Connect with like-minded people and set up in-person interactions.
It’s not only about how you interact with the platform but also about what you upload.
Sometimes your social media profiles say a lot more about you than your resume. What would you like a future employer or a business partner to think when they visit your social profiles?
Pay attention to what you upload online, and always make sure to show your best, authentic self.
14. Find Different Hobbies
One of the best things you can do in your 20s is to find hobbies that interest you and do them. That’s what’s going to set you apart from all these other boring people who don’t do anything with their lives.
When you have fun hobbies that you like to do, you automatically become a more interesting person, and people want to be around you.
