The small things you do daily will determine your success. In this article, you are going to learn about 14 daily habits to start in 2021. They will help you become more productive, get more done in less time, and make this year the best one in your life.
When you start applying these healthy habits, you will see how your life goes to a whole new level. You feel happier, more productive, and you reach your goals with ease.
In the end, I will even give you a FREE ebook on How To Build A Habit And Stick To It!
1. Create a morning routine
How you start your morning determines how your day will go. Every successful person has a healthy morning routine that primes them for the day.
There is no one-fit solution for everyone. Try doing different things in the morning and see what makes you most productive during the day.
Here are some suggestions: drink a full glass of water, meditate, do morning yoga, take care of your hygiene, write down 5 things you are grateful for.
2. Get enough sleep
Getting enough sleep is essential to your performance. It can mean the difference between having a productive day and spending the whole day in front of the desk and still not get anything done.
All top performers prioritize their sleep, so if you want to accomplish great things like them, you must sleep enough.
3. Wake Up Early
Wake up before everyone else, prime yourself for the day with a good morning routine, and start working on your goals. This gives you a huge headstart over the majority of people.
Imagine how much more you are going to get done when you start getting up earlier. Everyone else is asleep, so there will be no distractions.
Of course, you’ll need to go to bed early as well. Otherwise, you will feel tired and be unproductive.
I know, I know. We’ve all heard that meditation is good, but it just seems so boring, right? You are just sitting with your eyes closed, trying to stop yourself from thinking.
That’s what I thought as well until I learned from the amazing meditation teacher Emily Fletcher that meditation is not about quitting your mind. It’s rather about letting the thoughts flow, acknowledging them, and focusing on the present moment.
She says that telling your mind to stop thinking is like telling your heart to stop beating. If you want to learn more about her style of meditation, I highly suggest you take her quest, The M Word.
Another great meditation that I recommend even more is The Six Phase Meditation by Vishen Lakhiani. You don’t clear your mind or watch your breathing. Instead, you focus your mind powerfully on what you want to create. It’s a meditation for super-performance.
I am doing it every morning, and I can assure you that the results are amazing.
Listen to the guided meditation below and see for yourself what I am talking about. It’s completely FREE.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s 5 min or half an hour. Just get in the habit of working out daily. It will pay off in the long run.
It will even increase your productivity and make you feel more energized.
6. Move Your Body Regularly
I already talked about exercise, but now let’s talk about body movement and daily activity.
It doesn’t matter whether you spend 1 hour at the gym if you spend the rest of your waking hours sitting.
Don’t sit in one position for too long! I recommend you take 5 min breaks for every 25 min spent sitting.
During those 5 mins, stretch and move your body, drink water, do some breathing exercises and relax.
7. Eat Healthy
This is one of the best daily habits on this list!
Your body is the only place you have to live in, so take good care of it. What you put into your body determines how your body functions and how you perform in your everyday life.
If you put crap into your body, you will feel and perform like crap. But if you nurture your body with what it truly needs, it will perform at a top-level, and you will reach your goals with ease and feel generally happier.
People usually relate negative feelings to healthy eating. They think that eating healthy means living on salads, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Eating healthy means that you eat real food that comes straight from nature, but it doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, it can be quite fun when you change the way you look at it.
Experiment with new healthy recipes, learn about nutrition, invite your friends and family, cook together and enjoy your time!
8. Read and Learn daily
This is one of my favorite quotes, and it is so true. Reading opens your mind to a whole new world of knowledge and possibilities you weren’t aware of before.
Don’t just read for the sake of reading. Read books that solve a particular problem in your life and, most importantly, apply what you learn. Knowledge is power when acted upon!
I know some people don’t like reading or they can’t find the time. And that’s okay because the end goal is not reading but learning.
You can learn in many different ways. My two favorite ways of learning are taking online courses/programs and listening to audiobooks.
9. Practice Self-Care
If you are wondering what good habits to start in 2021, start with this one!
Start taking care of yourself. If you want to help others and perform at your best, you must show up as your best self. Take time every day just for yourself and do any activity that relaxes you.
Remember what they say in airplanes ”Put your own oxygen mask first before helping the person next to you”.
10. Cut Off Toxic Energy
We all have energy vampires in our lives. The three most common that I can think of are the news, social media, and negative people.
When it comes to the news, I highly encourage you to stop watching it. You won’t miss anything important. If the information is so important, it will find a way to reach you.
I don’t watch the news, and I still know the most important things happening worldwide.
When it comes to social media, take a look at the people, accounts, pages, and channels you follow.
Ask yourself ”Do these people bring positive feelings into my life, or are they just draining my energy?” If they don’t bring any value to your life, unfollow them!
Last but not least, get rid of the toxic people in your life. These are the people that always complain and criticize. Nothing good seems to happen in their life because their life is just a reflection of themselves.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t have any time or desire for negative people in my life.

11. Reduce Screen Time
We spend as much as 12 hours a day in front of TVs and computers – and that’s while at home!
It doesn’t matter whether you spend those hours working or scrolling through social media. It’s a fact that we spend way too much time in front of our devices.
We have never been more connected and disconnected at the same time.
Get off of your devices for a while, spend quality time alone, and connect with people in real life.
12. Spend More Time In Nature
Here is another mind-blowing fact. Most people spend 90% of their time indoors!
I get that you want to succeed in life, but working all the time and being on your devices for too long actually decreases your productivity.
We were born to be in nature, so start spending more time outside. Get off the concrete walls and buildings in the city and surround yourself with trees and fresh air.
Whenever you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or unproductive, don’t just go to your phone and ”relax”. Go out in nature, and you will see wonderful results.
There are so many benefits of journaling, such as keeping your thoughts organized, self-reflection, and stress relief.
Don’t know what to journal about? Here are some ideas:
- Reflect on a quote
- Answer a question
- Your goals for the day
- Where you see yourself in 3 years
- Describe challenges that you are facing and think about how you can solve them
- Express gratitude
Journaling before going to bed is also very beneficial. It will take off the pressure that has built up during the day, and it will help you fall asleep faster.
14. Pay Attention To Your Self-talk
Your self-talk reveals a lot about yourself. How you talk to yourself reveals the beliefs you have about yourself.
Negative self-talk is highly destructive, and you must get rid of it ASAP.
Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. Whenever you catch yourself saying something negative, immediately turn it into something positive.
These were my top picks of good habits to develop in 2021. As you can see, they are pretty simple, and you probably already knew about the majority of them.
The question is not whether you know them but rather whether you apply them. Knowledge alone is not power. Knowledge put in action equals power.
We are the result of our small daily actions. Good habits lead to great lives!
